Guyana Amazon Warriors won by 64 runs against Barbados Royals in the last league clash of CPL 2025. Half-centuries from Shimron Hetmyer and Quentin Sampson powered the hosts to 189/6. Meanwhile, a brilliant spell from Gudakesh Motie (5/21) bowled out the Royals for 125. The victory sealed second place in the table and gave them two chances to reach the CPL final.

💥 Warriors dominate with the bat

Sampson gave his side a flying start, lofting a six off just his second ball. Although Ben McDermott fell cheaply, he and Shai Hope steadied the innings with a 41-run PowerPlay.

Hope scored a lively 31 from 19 before mistiming a slog sweep. Nevertheless, Sampson maintained the tempo and reached his second CPL fifty in 35 balls. His aggressive intent kept the Royals under pressure.

The platform was ideal for Hetmyer, who played himself in before launching into the bowlers. He struck eight fours and three sixes in a superb 39-ball 68. In addition, Romario Shepherd added late fireworks with two sixes in his cameo.

Finally, a 19-run last over lifted the Warriors to 189/6 — the highest total at Providence this season.

🔥 Royals crumble in the chase

The chase never gathered momentum. Dwaine Pretorius removed both openers, Quinton de Kock and Kadeem Alleyne, inside the PowerPlay. Soon after, Shamar Joseph sent Rassie van der Dussen’s stumps flying with sheer pace.

At 32/3, the Royals were already in trouble. Rutherford and Parris tried to rebuild; however, the required rate soared. That is when Gudakesh Motie took control of the game.

Introduced in the 12th over, Motie struck twice in quick succession. Moreover, his clever variations of flight and pace broke the Royals’ middle order. Eventually, he finished with outstanding figures of 5/21.

The visitors folded for 125 in 18.2 overs. Consequently, the Warriors sealed a dominant 64-run win.

🎯 Warriors eye qualifier clash with Kings

This result not only confirmed a playoff spot but also guaranteed two chances at the final. Therefore, the team will face Saint Lucia Kings in Qualifier 1. A win would send them directly to the final, while a loss still leaves them alive for Qualifier 2.

With batting firepower from Hetmyer and Sampson, plus Motie’s lethal form, the Warriors look ready for the knockout stage.
