2025 Australian Cricket Awards: Winners & Highlights

The prestigious 2025 Australian Cricket Awards have recognized the nation’s top cricketing talent, celebrating their exceptional performances over the past 12 months. Held at Melbourne’s Crown Casino, this black-tie event honored the best in men’s and women’s cricket across domestic and international formats. While the men’s Test squad was absent due to their series in Sri Lanka, the night still saw major accolades awarded.

Men’s Domestic Player of the Year: Beau Webster

Tasmanian all-rounder Beau Webster was honored as the Men’s Domestic Player of the Year following a standout season. Webster made history by becoming only the second player, after Sir Garfield Sobers, to achieve 900 runs and 30 wickets in a single Sheffield Shield season. His consistency with the bat, impact as a seam bowler, and sharp fielding in the slips were crucial to Tasmania’s journey to the 2023-24 Sheffield Shield final.

Webster’s stellar form earned him a Test debut against India in Sydney, where he emerged as Australia’s top scorer in the match with 96 runs across two innings, took a wicket, and grabbed two catches. His international career continued with a Test series in Sri Lanka, where he contributed 23 runs in Australia’s dominant first-Test victory in Galle.

Reflecting on his award, Webster said, “It’s a peer-voted award, so it’s nice to get the recognition from the boys around the country. My role clarity, particularly down the order, has been a key factor in my success.”

During the voting period (Dec 5, 2023 – Dec 11, 2024), Webster played 23 matches across first-class and one-day formats, amassing 1,087 runs at an average of 47.26, with three centuries, including a top score of *167 against Victoria. With the ball, he took 43 wickets at 23.37, with a best return of 6-17 against WA in the One-Day Cup.

Women’s Domestic Player of the Year: Georgia Voll

Queensland and Sydney Thunder batter Georgia Voll had a breakthrough year, earning her the Women’s Domestic Player of the Year award. The 21-year-old all-rounder made her international debut in all three formats and solidified her place in Australia’s ODI squad, replacing an injured Alyssa Healy.

During the voting period, Voll scored 566 runs in 12 innings at an average of 56.6, including two centuries in the 2023-24 Women’s National Cricket League. Her form propelled her into Australia’s ODI squad against India, where she scored a century in just her second match.

Voll also switched from Brisbane Heat to Sydney Thunder for WBBL|10, where she thrived at the top of the order, accumulating 330 runs at a strike rate of 144.73, including a career-best 97 against Perth Scorchers* at the MCG.

Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year: Sam Konstas

Sam Konstas, one of Australia’s most exciting young batting prospects, was named Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year after a breakout season. The 19-year-old announced himself with a Test debut in the Boxing Day Test against India, capping off a stunning run in domestic cricket.

Konstas began the 2024-25 Sheffield Shield season with a maiden first-class century (152 against South Australia) and followed it up with another ton in the next innings. He became the youngest player since Ricky Ponting to score centuries in both innings of a Shield match. His performances in the BBL and for the Prime Minister’s XI against India further solidified his rapid rise.

On his award, Konstas said, “It’s been a hectic 12 months, but I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities. Making my Test debut on Boxing Day and winning against India was the pinnacle.”

Betty Wilson Young Cricketer of the Year: Chloe Ainsworth

Western Australia’s rising fast bowler Chloe Ainsworth continued her ascent by claiming the Betty Wilson Young Cricketer of the Year award. The 19-year-old pacer also won the WBBL|10 Young Gun Award after an outstanding season leading the new-ball attack.

Ainsworth impressed with 12 wickets at an average of 18.58 and an economy rate of 5.86 in WBBL|10, dismissing top international batters, including Meg Lanning, Tahlia McGrath, and Ellyse Perry. Despite injury setbacks, she played a pivotal role for Perth Scorchers and Western Australia in domestic competitions.

Voting Process & Awards Ceremony

The Australian Cricket Awards are determined through player votes, with an independent panel of media and match officials contributing additional input. The weighted voting system ensures Test performances carry more value than ODIs and T20s, reflecting the primacy of long-format cricket.

The main event, hosted by Seven Network’s Jason Richardson and Emma Freedman, featured the announcement of major awards, including:

  • Community Impact Award
  • Men’s & Women’s T20I Player of the Year
  • WBBL|10 & BBL|14 Player of the Tournament
  • Shane Warne Test Player of the Year
  • Allan Border Medal & Belinda Clark Medal

As the formalities concluded, the celebrations for Australia’s top cricketing talents began, marking another memorable year in Australian cricket.
