Invincibles dominated London Spirit with a six-wicket win at The Oval. They chased down 153 in just 78 balls. The victory showcased their batting strength. Moreover, it almost guaranteed them top spot in The Hundred 2025 and a direct entry into the final.

Invincibles strengthen top-spot claim with superior NRR 🔝

The Invincibles now boast a huge Net Run Rate (+1.786). In contrast, their closest rivals, Trent Rockets (+0.441) and Northern Superchargers (+0.282), lag behind. Consequently, both chasing sides still have a chance to overtake, but they would need massive wins in their final league games. Additionally, the Invincibles’ consistent performances throughout the tournament have put them in a clear position for the title.

Spirit’s innings starts strong but collapses under pressure 💥

Batting first, London Spirit started brightly. Jamie Smith struck two early boundaries to give them momentum. Meanwhile, David Warner held the other end well. However, between balls 17–23, Spirit lost momentum as both openers fell in quick succession. Then, Ollie Pope was dismissed, leaving Spirit three down inside 50 balls.

Middle-order batters Kane Williamson and Ashton Turner tried to rebuild. Nevertheless, scoring remained slow, nearly at a run-a-ball pace. Nathan Sowter’s spin, therefore, kept them under pressure and took crucial wickets. Late in the innings, Jamie Overton (31 off 18) and Ryan Higgins (28 off 15) added 54 runs off just 28 balls. Thus, Spirit finished with 152/7 in 100 balls. Despite the late flourish, the total was below par against the Invincibles’ strong batting lineup.

Invincibles’ Cox and Jacks dominate the chase 🚀

Chasing 153, the Invincibles lost Tawanda Muyeye first ball to Richard Gleeson. However, Jordan Cox immediately settled in. He struck boundaries and rotated strike efficiently. Meanwhile, Will Jacks attacked Luke Wood and Jamie Overton with precision.

Spin offered no relief. Both Cox and Jacks punished Jafer Chohan and Liam Dawson. Although Dawson eventually dismissed Jacks for 45, the Invincibles had already gained control. Then, Sam Curran joined Cox and hit two sixes before falling to Dawson on the very next ball. Consequently, the scoring rate remained high throughout the chase.

Finish strong with Ferreira cameo 💪

Cox fell three runs short of a fifty, bowled by Overton. Nevertheless, Donovan Ferreira (24 off 9)* finished the match in style. He struck two sixes and two fours. Therefore, the Invincibles chased the target comfortably with 22 balls to spare. Overall, their batting depth and ability to handle pressure stood out. Meanwhile, the Spirit struggled to keep up with the relentless scoring.
