Shafali Verma has been left out of India Women’s 2025 ODI World Cup squad, while Renuka Thakur makes a notable comeback after a long injury layoff. Meanwhile, Thakur, sidelined after WPL 2025 due to a foot injury, is set to return in the three-match ODI series against Australia in September, ahead of the World Cup. As a result, fans eagerly await her international return.

Additionally, pace-bowling allrounder Amanjot Kaur remains in the World Cup squad; however, she has been rested for the Australia series to fully recover from a back niggle. Consequently, Sayali Satghare will replace Amanjot for the ODIs against Australia, marking the only change between the two squads.

Although Verma performed well in the T20I leg of the England tour and recently scored 36, 4, and 52 in India A’s multi-format tour of Australia, she missed out on selection. Meanwhile, chief selector Neetu David stated:
“Shafali is still very much in our system. As she gets more game time, she will gain experience and contribute to India in the future.”

As a result, Pratika Rawal will open alongside vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, having scored 703 runs in 14 innings since her debut last December. Moreover, several first-time World Cup players include Jemimah Rodrigues, Harleen Deol, Amanjot Kaur, Arundhati Reddy, Radha Yadav, Sree Charani, and Kranti Goud, who impressed with a six-wicket haul in the last ODI against England.

On the other hand, Tejal Hasabnis and Sayali Satghare missed out after not featuring in India’s last ODI series in England. Additionally, Hasabnis scored just 28 runs across three innings in the India A tour of Australia, which affected her World Cup chances.
