Mitchell Owen faces a setback after a concussion ruled him out of the rest of the home series against South Africa. A bouncer struck the allrounder on the helmet grill during the second T20I. He passed the on-field concussion tests but showed symptoms later.

Under Cricket Australia’s concussion protocols, Owen must rest for 12 days. This schedule forces him to miss the final T20I and all three ODIs, delaying his 50-over debut.

Owen joins a growing injury list. Matt Short, part of both squads, continues to recover from a side strain he picked up in the West Indies. The slow healing process has kept him out of the South Africa series. He now targets a return for the domestic summer.

Lance Morris also drops out. The pacer complained of lower back soreness and returned to Perth for tests.
