Rockets secured their second consecutive win in The Hundred 2025, overcoming Northern Superchargers by five wickets at Trent Bridge. Thanks to Akeal Hosein’s early breakthroughs and a composed chase, the home side wrapped up the game with four balls remaining.

🚀 Rockets Dominate with the Ball

Choosing to bowl first, the Nottingham outfit struck immediately. Hosein trapped Dawid Malan lbw in the opening over, and just two balls later, Zak Crawley suffered the same fate. As a result, the visitors were under pressure from the start.

Michael Pepper and Dan Lawrence soon followed, leaving the Superchargers reeling at 34/4. However, Harry Brook offered resistance, smashing a six and four in back-to-back deliveries against Hosein before repeating the feat against David Willey.

Brook and Graham Clark built a steady stand, but Marcus Stoinis changed the momentum. He removed Brook and Imad Wasim in successive balls, and consequently, the Trent Bridge side regained full control of the innings.

🔥Rockets Middle-Order Collapse Ends Recovery

After Stoinis’ double blow, Rehan Ahmed struck by removing Clark. Meanwhile, the run rate slowed as the bowlers tightened their grip.

The home attack, led by its spin trio, exploited the pitch conditions well. As boundaries dried up, the pressure mounted and mistakes crept in. Consequently, the Superchargers closed on 124/9 — a total that appeared well short for the reply to come.

🏏 Home Side Steady in the Chase

In response, Tom Banton provided early momentum, finding the boundary three times. Root began cautiously; however, he soon lifted Matthew Potts for a six to accelerate the innings.

The pair added nearly half the target before Wasim bowled Banton for 37. In addition, the same bowler dismissed Root in his next set, handing the visitors a glimmer of hope. By contrast, Adil Rashid also joined the wicket-taking with two quick strikes, making the chase less straightforward.

✅ Finish in Style for the Trent Bridge Team

Even so, Rehan Ahmed remained composed, rotating the strike effectively and punishing loose deliveries. With only a handful of runs required, Stoinis and Adam Hose finished the pursuit without fuss.

Therefore, the victors reached 128/5 with four balls to spare, securing back-to-back wins. This result underlined their all-round balance — incisive new-ball bowling, disciplined spin, and calm batting under pressure.
