Southern Brave began their Hundred 2025 campaign with a thrilling one-wicket victory over Manchester Originals. In a tense final-over finish, Reece Topley struck a boundary off his first ball to seal the win.

🔹 Southern Brave collapse before Topley’s heroic finish

Chasing 132, Southern Brave looked steady at 65/2. Jason Roy (30) and Leus du Plooy (25) built a good platform. However, the momentum shifted quickly.

Scott Currie tore through the middle order with 4/28. At the other end, Noor Ahmad struck twice, adding to Brave’s troubles. As a result, the side collapsed to 104/8 in just 35 balls.

Despite the pressure, Tymal Mills kept the chase alive. He smashed Currie for a six. Then, Craig Overton followed up with a huge hit off Sonny Baker. Meanwhile, Currie dropped a tough chance, and the ball raced to the boundary.

With 3 needed and one wicket in hand, Mills was dismissed. Yet, Topley stayed calm under pressure. Remarkably, he finished the game with a boundary off the first ball he faced.

🔹 Southern Brave bowlers keep Originals to 131

Earlier, Manchester Originals were asked to bat first. They posted 131/4, with Phil Salt anchoring the innings. His 60 off 41 balls included 6 fours and a six.

Jos Buttler supported him well, adding 48 for the second wicket. However, Heinrich Klaasen struggled to find rhythm. Thankfully for Manchester, Mark Chapman hit a quick 22 off 12 to boost the total at the end.

Even so, Brave’s bowlers were disciplined. Tymal Mills starred with 3/22. Additionally, Michael Bracewell and James Coles kept things tight in the middle overs, slowing down the scoring rate.
