Sanju Samson Full Clearance and RR Captaincy

Sanju Samson has received full clearance from BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) to resume wicketkeeping in IPL 2025. With this approval, he will also reclaim the Rajasthan Royals’ captaincy for the rest of the season.

Fitness Test and Impact Player Role

Reports suggest that Samson traveled to Bengaluru for a fitness test conducted by BCCI’s Sports Science wing. Following surgery on his right index finger, he was initially allowed to bat only. The Royals management used him as an Impact Player while Riyan Parag took over as captain. During this period, Dhruv Jurel kept wicket for the team.

Return to Leadership and Wicketkeeping

After Rajasthan’s match against Chennai Super Kings on March 31, Samson flew from Guwahati to Bengaluru for final clearance. Fully fit now, he will take over wicketkeeping duties and leadership again. He will rejoin the Rajasthan Royals squad in Mullanpur, Chandigarh, before their clash with Punjab Kings on April 5.

Rajasthan Royals currently sit ninth in the IPL 2025 points table with one win from three games. Royal Challengers Bengaluru lead with two wins in two matches. Samson’s return brings hope for RR as they aim to improve their position.
