Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) bounced back after a tough loss earlier this week, securing their first victory in IPL 2025. They defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by five wickets with 23 balls to spare. Shardul Thakur’s brilliant four-wicket haul (4/34) and explosive batting from Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh made the 191-run chase look effortless.

Key Turning Points in the Match

LSG’s bowlers applied constant pressure, taking regular wickets. Thakur’s twin strikes removed Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan early, preventing SRH from gaining momentum. Despite some aggressive cameos, the disciplined bowling kept them in check. In response, Pooran and Marsh’s 116-run partnership in just over seven overs sealed the game for LSG.

Score: 62/2 (Run Rate: 10.33, 4s/6s: 6/3)
After posting 286 in their previous match, SRH aimed to continue their explosive form. However, Thakur and Avesh Khan’s disciplined spells restricted them to 15 runs in the first two overs. Thakur then dismissed Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Travis Head counterattacked with an 18-run over off Avesh but was dropped twice in the sixth over, giving LSG missed opportunities.

Middle Overs – A Mix of Wickets and Boundaries

SRH’s momentum fluctuated as Travis Head continued attacking before falling to Prince Yadav. Heinrich Klaasen hit a stunning boundary and a powerful six, but a quick run-out halted his charge. Bishnoi dismissed Reddy, but Aniket Verma revived SRH’s innings with back-to-back sixes in the 15th over.

Score: 77/1 (Run Rate: 12.83, 4s/6s: 6/6)
Despite losing Aiden Markram early to Shami, LSG’s batters counterattacked aggressively. Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran took on SRH’s bowlers, smashing sixes at will. Pooran capitalized on a loose over from Simarjeet Singh, hitting consecutive sixes, while Marsh punished Shami with back-to-back maximums. LSG ended the PowerPlay at 77/1.

Middle Overs – A Match-Winning Partnership

Score: 99/4 (Run Rate: 11.00, 4s/6s: 10/4)
Pooran continued his assault, reaching his half-century in just 18 balls—the fastest in IPL 2025. Despite SRH introducing Zampa as an impact sub, LSG’s dominance continued.
