Delhi Capitals (DC) secured a thrilling win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2025, thanks to Ashutosh Sharma’s brilliance under pressure. With six runs needed off the final over, No.11 Mohit Sharma faced the first ball—a moment of high tension.

Shahbaz Ahmed’s delivery spun past Mohit’s bat, beating him completely. Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant missed an easy stumping but took a DRS review for LBW. Ball-tracking confirmed the ball was missing off stump. On the next ball, Mohit scrambled a single, bringing Ashutosh back on strike. He then sealed the game in style with a massive six.

Despite the drama, Ashutosh stayed calm.

“I was confident. If Mohit took a single, I knew I could finish it. I believe in my ability,” he said post-match.

DC was in trouble at 65/5 in the seventh over, chasing 210. The required run rate was climbing, and wickets were falling. However, Ashutosh played a smart innings, pacing himself before launching a final-overs assault.

“I stuck to the basics and focused on going deep. That was the key,” he explained.

Ashutosh Sharma on His Growth as a Finisher

The 26-year-old made a mark last season with Punjab Kings as a finisher. However, he remains determined to improve.

“Last season is history. I worked on my weaknesses and prepared for these moments,” he stated.

Ashutosh also credited teammate Vipraj for staying composed under pressure and dedicated his Player of the Match award to his mentor, Shikhar Dhawan.
