Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal suffered a severe heart attack during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match in Savar on Monday. Medical staff rushed him to the hospital after he complained of chest pain while leading Mohammedan Sporting Club against Shinepukur Cricket Club at BKSP.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Debashish Chowdhury confirmed that doctors performed an ECG, which revealed some irregularities. Although the initial results were unclear, further tests raised concerns about his condition.
After a blood test, Tamim expressed discomfort and decided to return to Dhaka. However, his condition worsened, forcing medical staff to call an ambulance. While traveling back from the hospital, he suffered intense chest pain, prompting an emergency readmission. Doctors later confirmed a severe heart attack.

Doctors immediately started treatment and decided to perform an angioplasty. They will insert a stent into his artery to restore proper blood flow. He remains under close medical supervision at Fazilatunnesa Hospital.
Several BCB officials rushed to Savar to check on Tamim. The board postponed a scheduled meeting on Monday due to the situation.
