Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have signed South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder to replace Brydon Carse in IPL 2025. The English pacer suffered a toe injury during England’s Champions Trophy campaign and will miss the tournament. He aggravated the issue against Australia and could not recover in time.
SRH had bought Carse for INR 1 crore at the auction. His toe problem worsened during England’s white-ball series in India. He played in the Champions Trophy opener but struggled, conceding 69 runs in seven overs. As his condition deteriorated, he had to withdraw from both the tournament and the IPL season.
Mulder, now joining SRH, performed well for South Africa in the Champions Trophy. He took six wickets in three matches. Despite listing his base price at INR 75 lakh, he went unsold at the auction. This will be his first IPL season.
Last season’s runners-up, SRH, will start their IPL 2025 campaign at home against Rajasthan Royals on March 23 in an afternoon match.
