Sri Lanka has named a largely unchanged squad for the upcoming two-match ODI series against Australia at home, maintaining continuity from their recent tour of New Zealand. The only change sees seam-bowling allrounder Chamindu Wickramasinghe left out, reducing the squad from 17 to 16 players.

While the series holds little significance for Sri Lanka, as they failed to qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025, it is crucial for Australia. The visitors will head straight to Pakistan for the prestigious eight-team tournament following these ODIs. Both matches will be played at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Strong Batting Core & Spin-Packed Attack

Sri Lanka's batting lineup features a solid mix of experience and young talent. Skipper Charith Asalanka will lead the middle order, while the likes of Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, Nishan Madushka, Avishka Fernando, and Nuwanidu Fernando provide depth at the top. Mendis comes into the series in good form, having scored 85* and 50 in the recent Test series against Australia.

Spin will be a key factor, considering the Colombo pitch. Sri Lanka boasts a versatile spin attack with Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Dunith Wellalage, and Jeffrey Vandersay. The pace unit includes Asitha Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, Eshan Malinga, and Mohamed Shiraz, though the playing XI combination remains uncertain.
