Mumbai Indians Enter WPL 2025 Final with Dominant Win. Hayley Matthews starred with a brilliant 77 off 50 balls and three wickets. She shared a record 133-run partnership with Nat Sciver-Brunt (77), powering MI to a massive 213/4.

Mumbai’s Batting Brilliance

Opting to bat, MI lost Yastika Bhatia early (15 off 14). Matthews and Sciver-Brunt then took charge, rebuilding the innings. Matthews reached her fifty in 36 balls, while Sciver-Brunt got there in just 30. Gujarat’s poor fielding proved costly, as they dropped Matthews twice and Sciver-Brunt once.

Harmanpreet Kaur capitalized on her reprieve, smashing a 12-ball 36. MI accelerated in the last six overs, adding 89 runs to breach the 200-mark.

Gujarat’s Struggles in the Chase

The Giants’ chase started poorly. Matthews took a stunning catch to dismiss Beth Mooney in the first over. A run-out sent Harleen Deol back, while Matthews cleaned up Ashleigh Gardner, putting Gujarat on the back foot.

Danielle Gibson, replacing the injured Deandra Dottin, fought hard with 34 off 24. Phoebe Litchfield (31 off 20) and Bharti Fulmali (26 off 18) kept Gujarat in the game. However, a rising asking rate forced risky shots.

Matthews struck again to bowl Fulmali in the 16th over. Gujarat needed 72 off 27 balls, an impossible task. Simran Shaikh (17 off 8) and Tanuja Kanwar (16 off 12) played brief cameos, but MI sealed an emphatic win. Gujarat folded for 166 in 19.2 overs.

With this victory, MI heads to their second WPL final, facing Delhi Capitals.
