Delhi Capitals dominated Mumbai Indians with a convincing nine-wicket win, reclaiming the top spot in WPL 2025 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Jess Jonassen (3/25) led the bowling attack, restricting Mumbai to 123/9 before Meg Lanning (60* off 49) and Shafali Verma (43 off 28) powered through the chase in just 14.3 overs, boosting Delhi’s Net Run Rate.

Mumbai started strong as Yastika Bhatia struck a boundary off the first ball from Marizanne Kapp. Partnered with Hayley Matthews, she kept the scoreboard ticking. The momentum shifted in the sixth over when Shikha Pandey bowled a maiden-wicket over, dismissing Bhatia (11 off 11). Annabel Sutherland then removed Matthews in the next over, putting Mumbai under pressure.

Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt looked to rebuild, smashing 18 runs off Titas Sadhu’s 10th over. Just as Mumbai gained momentum, Jonassen struck, trapping Harmanpreet lbw before deceiving Sciver-Brunt into a soft return catch. Minnu Mani (3/17) continued the collapse, dismissing S Sajana and Amelia Kerr in the 15th over. A brilliant diving catch by Annabel Sutherland sent Kerr back, as Mumbai lost five wickets for just 23 runs, finishing at 123/9.

Chasing 124, Delhi started aggressively. Lanning hit back-to-back boundaries off Shabnim Ismail, while Shafali Verma took on Sciver-Brunt, smashing a six and two fours in a 16-run over. By the end of the PowerPlay, Delhi raced to 57/0, recording their 11th 50-run stand in WPL history. Shafali hammered two sixes off Amelia Kerr before falling to Amanjot Kaur for 43 off 28. Lanning remained unbeaten on 60 off 49, guiding Delhi to victory in just 14.3 overs and securing their position at the top of the WPL standings.
