Day 4 of the Delhi Test brought an inspiring fightback from the West Indies. After being asked to follow on, they reached 252/3 (f/o) at lunch, reducing India’s lead to just 18 runs. The morning belonged to the visitors as John Campbell’s 115 and Shai Hope’s unbeaten 92 frustrated India’s bowlers and revived their hopes.

🌴 Day 4: Campbell’s Century Sparks Windies Comeback

From the very first over of Day 4, John Campbell looked confident and determined. He built his innings with patience and precision, reaching a fantastic 115 off 199 balls. Not only did he handle spin superbly, but he also rotated the strike efficiently.

Moreover, Campbell’s second century of the match made him the first West Indies opener in 23 years to score a Test hundred in India. His knock was filled with elegant drives and clever footwork, showing both class and courage.

However, his resistance finally ended when Ravindra Jadeja trapped him lbw just before lunch. Despite the setback, his partnership of 177 runs with Shai Hope ensured West Indies stayed strong.

Earlier in the session, Tagenarine Chanderpaul (30) fell to Mohammed Siraj, while Alick Athanaze (7) was caught off Washington Sundar. Even though wickets fell at intervals, Hope remained calm, and Roston Chase (23)* provided excellent support.

At lunch, West Indies were 252/3, and more importantly, they had shown great determination to fight back.

🎯 Day 4: Indian Bowlers Struggle for Control

India’s bowlers faced their toughest session of the match. Since the pitch had flattened, there was less turn and bounce. Siraj struck early, but after that, India had to wait long for breakthroughs.

Jadeja bowled tirelessly and used variations smartly. Eventually, his accuracy was rewarded with Campbell’s wicket. Washington Sundar maintained tight lines, while Kuldeep Yadav tried to exploit the rough but found little success.

Even though Bumrah bowled with discipline, the batters refused to take risks. As a result, India couldn’t dominate the session as they did earlier. However, they will hope that the pitch offers some reverse swing and extra turn in the next phase.

🇮🇳 Day 4: India’s Big First Innings Still Dominates

Earlier in the match, India’s massive 518/5 declared gave them complete control. Yashasvi Jaiswal (175) led the charge with another brilliant innings, while Shubman Gill (129)* provided stability. Furthermore, Sai Sudharsan (87), Nitish Reddy (43), and Dhruv Jurel (44) contributed valuable runs down the order.

In contrast, the West Indies collapsed for 248 in their first innings. Kuldeep Yadav (5/48) and Ravindra Jadeja (3/46) ran through the middle order to enforce the follow-on. Nevertheless, the visitors responded brilliantly in their second outing.

As the game heads into the afternoon session, West Indies will look to erase the deficit completely and push for a draw. India, on the other hand, will aim to break the partnership early and regain control.
