Barbados Royals finally ended their six-match losing streak in CPL 2025, securing a much-needed 27-run victory over Saint Lucia Kings in Bridgetown. The Royals combined a strong batting display with disciplined bowling, and as a result, they picked up their first points of the season.

Barbados Royals batting revival sets up big total 🏏

Put in to bat first, the Barbados Royals lost Quinton de Kock early to Khary Pierre. However, the setback did not halt their progress for long. Kadeem Alleyne and Brandon King steadied the innings with a 53-run stand, which shifted momentum back towards the Royals.

Brandon King, dropped by Delano Potgieter, made the most of his reprieve. He went on to score 42, and his contribution was vital. Meanwhile, Alleyne took the aggressive route, smashing 39 from just 21 balls. His innings, which included three sixes and three fours, ensured the Royals reached 72 at the halfway mark.

Even though Tabraiz Shamsi once again bowled superbly for the Kings, the Royals managed to maintain momentum. Shamsi dismissed both Alleyne and King, finishing with excellent figures of 3/26. Nevertheless, the Royals were still in position for a late surge at 130/4 after 17 overs.

Captain Rovman Powell then provided the spark they needed. He struck 41 not out off 17 balls, finding the boundary with ease. In addition, Chris Green added a rapid 25 from 14 deliveries. Together, they smashed 61 runs in the final three overs, lifting the Royals to a commanding 191/5.

Barbados Royals bowlers take charge 🎯

Defending a big score, the Barbados Royals struck early. Chris Green dismissed Johnson Charles with his second delivery, and soon after, Ramon Simmonds removed Ackeem Auguste with Green taking the catch.

Furthermore, Green added the key wicket of Roston Chase, which left Saint Lucia struggling at 66/5 after ten overs. Consequently, the Kings were under huge pressure with the required rate climbing sharply.

Tim David tried to mount a counterattack. He smashed 44 off 28 balls with four sixes, and for a while, it looked like he could spark a turnaround. Despite his efforts, the Royals bowlers continued to apply pressure.

Ramon Simmonds (3/28) and Daniel Sams (3/31) bowled with accuracy and variation. Moreover, both bowlers picked up three wickets each, dismantling the Kings’ lower order. In the end, Saint Lucia managed only 164/9, handing the Royals a 27-run win.

A timely boost for Barbados Royals ✨

This result was more than just two points for the Barbados Royals. In fact, it marked a turning point in their campaign. Their batting finally showed intent, while their bowling unit displayed control and discipline.

Although the Royals still face an uphill task to qualify for the playoffs, this performance will boost their confidence. Therefore, they will look to build on this momentum in the upcoming matches.
