Sri Lanka have named Wanindu Hasaranga in their 16-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025, with the star leg-spinning allrounder included subject to fitness clearance. The talismanic spinner suffered a hamstring injury in July’s ODI series against Bangladesh. As a result, he missed the T20Is against Bangladesh as well as the entire Zimbabwe tour.

Selectors backed Hasaranga’s recovery and added him to the squad pending medical clearance. Meanwhile, skipper Charith Asalanka continues in charge, while Dasun Shanaka adds pace-bowling depth and allround balance. In addition, the batting trio of Kusal Mendis, Pathum Nissanka, and Kusal Perera brings stability at the top.

Sri Lanka prepare with Zimbabwe T20Is 🔥

Before the Asia Cup, Sri Lanka face Zimbabwe in a three-match T20I series from September 3, following two ODIs on August 29 and 31. Importantly, this series gives the coaching staff a chance to assess player form and fitness. Therefore, the Zimbabwe matches serve as ideal preparation for the continental tournament.
