With IPL 2025 approaching, several players are awaiting clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Bumrah’s Recovery Update

Mumbai Indians’ star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is recovering from a back injury. He suffered the issue during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in January. Outgoing BCCI Sports Science chief Nitin Patel is personally monitoring his rehab. Bumrah had back surgery in 2023 and has been training at the NCA.

Reports suggest he may receive clearance by the end of March. However, his return date remains uncertain. Mumbai Indians play their first game against Chennai Super Kings on March 23, followed by Gujarat Titans on March 29. Their first home match is against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 31. There is a chance Bumrah will be available for that game, but it’s not confirmed.

Samson Nears Full Fitness

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson is recovering from a finger injury. He sustained the fracture during India’s T20 series against England last month. While he has cleared the batting fitness test, his wicketkeeping clearance is pending.

The NCA is expected to conduct final tests soon. If Samson needs more time, Rajasthan Royals have Dhruv Jurel as a backup. RR play their first match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23.

Lucknow Super Giants’ Pacers in Doubt

Lucknow Super Giants are waiting for fitness updates on three pacers—Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, and Avesh Khan.

  • Mayank Yadav has been sidelined since October 2024 due to a back injury.
  • Avesh Khan is recovering from knee cartilage issues and has been under rehab since January.
  • Mohsin Khan’s injury details remain unclear. His last match was on December 31, where he bowled only 5.5 overs.

At least two of them are expected to be cleared before Lucknow’s first game against Delhi Capitals on March 24. Their fitness will be crucial for LSG’s bowling attack.
