USA Cricket Lawsuit The case names top officials, including Venu Pisike, Srini Salver, Pintoo Shah, David Haubert, Nadia Gruny, and Anj Balusu. The plaintiffs claim USAC leaders manipulated membership registrations to influence the upcoming elections.

Allegations of Election Fraud and Mismanagement

The lawsuit alleges that USAC officials strategically modified membership records to disenfranchise certain voters. This move, according to the plaintiffs, aimed to sway election results in their favor.

Additionally, the board failed to hold elections on time. Salver and Gruny remained in their positions despite their terms ending. The lawsuit also highlights USAC’s failure to follow United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) guidelines. USAC needed to establish an Athlete Advisory Committee for player representation but did not take action.

ICC Scrutiny and the Risk of Expulsion

This lawsuit intensifies pressure on USAC, already under ICC scrutiny. In July 2024, the ICC issued a deferred suspension notice, giving USAC one year to implement governance reforms. Failure to comply could result in expulsion.

The USOPC has also raised concerns about USAC’s leadership. Officials criticized the board as “dysfunctional” and distracted by internal conflicts. They warned that if misgovernance continues, USAC may not remain the National Governing Body (NGB) for cricket at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

If the ICC revokes USAC’s membership, cricket in the USA will face a major setback. With the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 set to be co-hosted by the USA and West Indies, losing recognition could impact funding, sponsorships, and player development.

Power struggles within USAC triggered this legal battle. In July 2024, the board suspended Nijjar, Whittaker, and Gona after they signed a letter accusing top officials of mismanagement. Cricholic later accessed and reported on this letter.

On February 15, 2025, USAC removed the three directors. The board then announced elections to replace them. However, the plaintiffs argue that their removal was politically motivated.

In the lawsuit, they demand:

  • The removal of all current board members
  • Their reinstatement as directors
  • The cancellation of the upcoming elections

What’s Next for USA Cricket?

With both the ICC and USOPC monitoring the situation, USAC faces a critical moment. The board must restore trust and fix governance issues before the ICC deadline. If they fail, they risk losing ICC recognition, funding, and their NGB status.

This lawsuit also raises concerns about USAC’s ability to lead cricket in the United States. If legal battles drag on, they could damage USAC’s reputation further, making it harder to secure sponsorships and broadcasting deals.

The future of cricket in the USA now depends on whether USAC can resolve these governance challenges. Fans and stakeholders will watch closely as the situation unfolds.
