KKR came tantalizingly close, but Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) held their nerve to win a dramatic, high-scoring encounter by just 4 runs at Eden Gardens. Although KKR dominated the PowerPlay and looked set for a successful chase, they faltered in the middle overs, allowing LSG to claw back and take control.

Batting first, LSG piled on a mammoth 238/3, thanks to a well-paced 81 from Mitchell Marsh and a sensational 87* off 36 by Nicholas Pooran. In response, KKR put up a spirited fight, led by Ajinkya Rahane and Rinku Singh, but ultimately finished at 234/7.

Aiden Markram got the innings off to a brisk start with 36 off 19. Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh played second fiddle early on, allowing LSG to build a solid base. Vaibhav Arora bowled with swing, but LSG targeted Spencer Johnson and Harshit Rana to close the PowerPlay strong.

Middle Overs (105/1):
After Markram fell for 49, Marsh and Pooran took full advantage of the short boundary. Consequently, the run rate surged, with the pair adding 71 runs in just five overs. Even though Varun Chakaravarthy tried to apply pressure, the left-right combination made field placements difficult.

Death Overs (68/2):
Once Marsh was dismissed, Pooran took center stage. Moreover, his ability to clear the ropes at will left the KKR bowlers helpless. He reached his half-century in just 21 balls, guiding LSG to an intimidating 238.

KKR responded in style. Akash Deep’s erratic first over, including five wides, gave them early momentum. In contrast, LSG’s bowlers lacked discipline up front. Narine (30 off 12) and Rahane (35 off 15) unleashed an early onslaught, making the massive chase seem well within reach.

Middle Overs (83/4):
Just when KKR looked comfortable, LSG’s spinners tightened the screws. Despite Rahane’s half-century, regular wickets broke the rhythm. Bishnoi and debutant Digvesh Rathi bowled with excellent control, conceding just 11 runs across overs 14 and 15.

Death Overs (61/3):
Needing 66 off the last five, KKR still had hope. However, Shardul Thakur and Avesh Khan removed Russell and Raghuvanshi, piling on the pressure. Rinku Singh did his best, slamming 38* off 15, but ultimately, the task proved too steep.
