Meanwhile, RCB suffered their fourth consecutive defeat, failing to win a single match at home. As a result, their playoff chances now hang by a thread.

Perry Anchors RCB to 147/5

After being sent in to bat, Ellyse Perry once again led RCB’s fight, scoring an unbeaten 60 off 44 balls. While Danni Wyatt-Hodge (21) and Raghvi Bist (33) provided some support, neither could convert their starts into big scores.

At 119/2 after 16 overs, RCB looked set for a strong finish. However, they lost momentum, managing only 28 runs in the last four overs. Shikha Pandey (2/24) and debutant Shree Charani (2/28) played a crucial role in restricting them.

Shree Charani Shines on Debut

DC made a bold call by handing Shree Charani her WPL debut, and she did not disappoint. She kept a tight line, ensuring the batters had little room to free their arms. More importantly, she dismissed Bist and Richa Ghosh in the 17th over, shifting the game in DC’s favor.

Shafali & Jonassen Take Charge

Chasing 148, DC had a shaky start as Lanning fell for just 2 runs. However, from that point onward, Shafali Verma and Jess Jonassen dominated.

Shafali played a composed knock, scoring *67 off 41 balls (8 fours, 4 sixes). On the other hand, Jonassen was equally aggressive, smashing *69 off 38 balls (9 fours, 1 six). As a result, DC sealed the win in just 15.3 overs, maintaining their top position on the points table.

Mandhana’s Home Struggles Continue

Smriti Mandhana, who excelled at Chinnaswamy in WPL 2024, has struggled this season. So far, she has scored only 50 runs in four innings at home. Unfortunately, against DC, she fell for just 8 runs, edging Shikha Pandey to slip.

What’s Next?

With this win, Delhi Capitals became the first team to qualify for the playoffs. Meanwhile, RCB’s campaign is in serious trouble. Therefore, they must win their remaining matches to stay in contention.
